Jinja Regional Referral Hospital staff suspended for extorting money from patients

The chairperson of the parliamentary health committee Dr Charles Ayume has directed the management of Jinja Regional Referral Hospital  to immediately expel the hospital theater attendant Bizibu Ssuubi who is accused of extorting money from patients, an act which has led a one Nekesa Lydia aged 32years of age to lose both a uterus and an unborn baby for failing to raise 150,000 shillings for blood transfusion .

The directive comes after the committee received information that Ssuubi has on several occasions asked patients for money before rendering them services.

Dr Ayume requested the Executive Director of Jinja Regional Referral Hospital Dr Alfred Yayi to take action against his employee such that it can act as a warning to other medical workers who extort money from patients in a free government hospital.
