The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Monica Musenero has said Uganda is on the right track to have electric vehicles and motorcycles made here.
She noted that the department of Science, Technology and Innovation has taken the lead to ensure that Uganda invests in the electric transport industry to save the environment from pollution that comes from vehicles using fuel.
Dr Musenero added that the country has so far made locally four electric buses which are on market and that they are planning to have seven more before the end of this year.

Musenero said this while addressing the media at Uganda Manufacturers Association Lugogo in Kampala ahead of this year’s International Trade Fair slated for 3rd-10th October 2022.
She said when the manufacturing plant in Jinja is done the country will be able to produce eight buses a day.
However, the Chairman Uganda Manufactures Association Deo Kayemba lamented that many Ugandans are not innovative enough which he says is failing businesses.
