Four staffs of Global Alliance have this morning been arrested and detained at Soroti CPS for allegedly extorting money from residents in the guise of offering them jobs.
According to police, 30 recruiters, trainers and trainees were arrested on Wednesday, 21st September 2022.
Some of the recruiters who were arrested include Aziz Simon Enock Edwo from Serere district, Atinyi Edward from Mbarara district, Emagu William from Kaberamaido district, and Nakato Fiona Adyeri from Masindi district.
According to the police, the group had recruited people from Busoga, Lira, Soroti, Pallisa and other places within the country under the guise of offering them well-paying jobs at a fee. They were found undergoing training for the said jobs.
SP Ageca Oscar Gregg the PRO of East Kyoga said in a press statement that the arrest was occasioned through intelligence which allowed them to mount an operation at Atooti within Soroti City where they arrested the leaders of Global Alliance.
“Our findings indicates that each of the new recruits pays between 900,000 and 1.3 million Shillings to become a member. He/she is then required to buy food supplements that they sell and earn profits that translates into daily, weekly or monthly pay.”
The police spokesperson said several young people including students have reportedly been duped into the business but failed to realize any benefits. This caused an outcry from members of the public, prompting the police to swing into action.
In June, the police arrested 18 officials of the same company at Hyde park bar along Soroti-Moroto road
Last month (August), the government raised a red-flag on the Alliance in Motion Global, a multi-level networking and marketing company over allegations of fraud and human trafficking.
The police spokesperson appealed to the public to be wary of unsolicited promises of Jobs, money and privileges that are not earned as this can lead them into being conned or trafficked by unscrupulous persons.
