Mbale Central Main market leadership has decried of the increasing garbage within the area as a result of reluctance from the garbage collectors

currently managed by Mbale Municipal Council which recently took over the task from the Market leadership.

Ayub Madoi the Mbale Central Market chairman told our reporter who recently visited the market that there is garbage littered all over the area including the basement, corridors, and drainage systems that are now blocked among others adding that the Market leadership is powerless on the mater.

Madoi revealed that Council collets Sh. 100 for garbage collection from the venders every day but seem to have no time to check if the job is done by those tasked to do the work.

This comes just a few days after Mbale Municipal Council removed a hip of garbage that has spent more than twenty years at Bugwere Road market leading to a danger on decease outbreaks caused by poor hygiene and the bad smell chasing away the customers and food sellers in the area.

The Mbale Municipality Town Clerk Edward Lwanga said that they have spent millions of many on this but have a challenge of trucks to ferry the garbage to the Municipality compost plant forcing them to hire others though Hon Jack Wamai the Mbale Municipality area Mp donated one to them for free.

Madoi said that he has fears that the challenge in garbage collection might grow bigger and the Municipal Council can’t manage it hence the need to leave search responsibilities to Market leaderships which have proved to be more efficient if the venders contribute to garbage collection.

Hon. Jack Wamai said that he had received a lot of complains on the Hip of garbage at Bugwere Market from the venders and area residents who had since started shifting from the area due to the bad smell from the garbage forcing him to push for its immediate removal by Council.

Wamai said that this is one of the steps that must be taken to clean Mbale Town which has turned to a National and international laughing stock on how it lost its old glory that made it the cleanest Town across the East Africa attracting more tourist who visited the area to see its beauty.
